Lakeport State Park

Nestled along the shores of beautiful Lake Huron, you’ll find Lakeport State Park, about 25 minutes north of Port Huron along M-25. If you’re looking for access to one of the Great Lakes on the sunrise coast of Michigan, then this is the park for you! With two campgrounds that are separated by the town of Lakeport, it offers 250 campsites and loads of amenities, such as modern restroom and shower facilities.

Camping

With 250 campsites that feature blacktop pads and pull-thru sites, you’re sure to find a great spot for your stay. The cost of the modern camping area is $27 per night and you’ll find the following amenities to make your getaway fun and comfortable:

  • Electricity

  • Modern toilet/shower building

  • Playground

  • Hiking trail

  • Swimming beach

  • Volleyball court

  • Picnic shelter

  • Picnic area

Camper Cabin

For those who have an adventurous, outdoorsy spirit but lack an RV or tent, the camper cabin is perfect! For $86/night, you can enjoy a cozy, comfortable stay in a cabin that features electric heat, window treatments and bedroom curtains for privacy, and a sturdy roof over your head. Linens are NOT provided, so be sure to pack your own bedding. The cabin also does not have A/C, but who needs it when you’re spending your days by the lake and your nights by a campfire? The cabin has two bedrooms with a set of bunk beds in each and a sleeper sofa in the living area. Come prepared to do most of your cooking outside on the grill as the kitchen only has a refrigerator and a microwave. There is no cleaning service, and renters are expected to leave the cabin as clean as they found it. You can find the cabin on the far north end of the campground.

Picnic Area

The Franklin Delano Roosevelt (south) unit of Lakeport State Park is a day-use area located one mile south of the camping area and adjacent to Lake Huron. Here visitors can come for the day to enjoy the beach, have a picnic, go birdwatching, or just relax in the sunshine and take in the gorgeous views of one of the Great Lakes. There are picnic tables, grills, horseshoe pits, volleyball nets, and playgrounds. For your next family reunion, birthday party, graduation party, and more, consider renting the picnic shelter located in the state park. Reservations can be made up to one year ahead.

Fishing and Boating

For the fishing and boating enthusiast, there is a boat launch in Lexington about ten miles north of the park. Launch your boat here and enjoy a relaxing day out on the water. For hiking and hunting opportunities, the Port Huron State Game Area is within a 15-minute drive. Enjoy hiking the area year round and hunting in season.
