When it comes to camping, you tend to need a second set of a lot of things especially when you’re stocking an RV. The best place to stock up on supplies is the dollar store! The items are inexpensive and it’s really not a big deal if they get lost or damaged! Here are some great dollar store camping supplies!
Dining
Run to the dollar store to stock your kitchen cabinets in your RV. Usually you’ll find sets of plastic dishware (plates, bowls, cups) for $1 that come in 3s! If you don’t want plastic, you can buy real dishware at the dollar store for a dollar per plate, bowl, cup, etc. When it’s time to eat, a tablecloth is nice to throw over a (dirty!) picnic table, but who wants to wash them afterward? If you buy multiple tablecloths for $1/each at the dollar store, you can just toss it in the trash when you’re done. No mess to clean up and no cloth to wash afterward. You can also get tablecloth clips at the dollar store to keep it in place on a windy day. Silverware and serving utensils can also be found here. You can pick and choose what you need and just keep it in your RV’s kitchen for next time. No need to pack up your stuff from your kitchen each time you get ready. Near the silverware, you can usually find things like measuring cups and spoons as well! Picnic supplies are often on their shelves as well.
Cleaning
While camping is a lot of fun, you can’t forget that you have to clean your living quarters while you’re there. This includes your RV’s bathroom, kitchen, floors, windows, clothes, and much more. Instead of dragging along all of your cleaning supplies from home, put together a small bucket of cleaning supplies specifically for your RV. Dollar stores sell sponges and scrub brushes, all-purpose cleaner, dish soap, glass cleaner, and even toilet brushes! If you’re planning a long trip and are going to need to wash your clothes, you can also pick up small bottles of laundry detergent and fabric softener as well as a clothesline and clothespins!
Toiletries
Go to the dollar store for all the toiletries you use every day and have to bring along on your camping trips. They sell shampoo, conditioner, body wash and bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste, tooth brushes, floss, mouthwash, and more. If you use products that are not sold at the dollar store (like your favorite organic conditioner) and you want to bring them along, you can purchase small travel bottles in which you can dispense the amount you need for your trip.
First Aid
An entire first aid kit can be assembled in the aisles of the dollar store! Bandages, antibiotic ointment, cotton balls, gloves, pain relievers, tweezers, peroxide, and more are all sold at the dollar store. Once you have everything you want in your cart, wander over to the storage section and grab a plastic storage bin to put it all in and you’re set. Bring on the boo-boos!
Fun
If you have kids, then you know that dollar stores dedicate aisles, bins, and end caps to toys. You’ll find water guns, water balls, water balloons, flotation toys, glow sticks, coloring books, stickers, crayons/markers, dart guns, balls, RC toys, and so much more. Whether you bring your children with you to choose toys is up to you! The dollar store can quickly get expensive with little ones along!
Tools
Having a well-stocked tool kit in your RV is very important! Head to the dollar store for loads of useful tools, such as flashlights, screwdrivers, a measuring tape, nails and screws, other types of fasteners, wrenches, and more! While these aren’t the best quality you can buy, they should do the trick for small repairs and fixes while on the road. The dollar store is a great place to find all kinds of things you may need when on the road.
